EXPERTISE & THERAPEUTIC APPROACH
As a licensed Occupational Therapist with over 15 years of experience, I am skilled at holistically helping people overcome life challenges and facilitating life transitions. I obtained my Honours BSc Degree in Physiology and Human Biology at University of Toronto in 2004, and completed my Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the Queen’s University in 2006. I later received specialized training in external pelvic floor assessment and intervention, chronic pain management, and cognitive behavioural therapy. I have worked independently and as a member of multidisciplinary health care teams, treating individuals with complex musculo-skeletal injuries and chronic pain.
Now, at Thrive Mama, I apply my learning and experience to women's health, focusing on the physical and emotional health of women during fertility, pregnancy, post-partum, and menopause. Women often experience pain, mood challenges, and pelvic health concerns together and research has shown an association between emotional regulation and core and pelvic musculature, so jointly addressing these pathways is critical to effectively improving strength and mood. As an Occupational Therapist with specialized training in external pelvic floor assessment and intervention, chronic pain management, and psychotherapeutic strategies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I am uniquely qualified to understand and address the mind-body connection a unique combination of counselling, manual modalities, exercises, and yoga therapy.
